Keynote Address: Quality and Professionalism
Brian D. Coley, MD, FSRU
Dr. Brian D. Coley is the Radiologist-in-Chief at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
He is a past president of the Society for Pediatric Radiology and of the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine.
Dr. Coley is the Editor-in-Chief of the 12th and 13th editions of Caffey’s Pediatric Diagnostic Imaging, and is an assistant editor of the journal Pediatric Radiology.
He is the author of numerous papers and book chapters, and has spoken widely at national and international meetings.
He was honored to be selected as a fellow of the SRU in 2006.

Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Review sonographic findings that pose a high risk of incorrect diagnosis and provide strategies for improved patient care.
- Discuss emergent sonographic findings of ultrasound abnormalities throughout the body.
- Review the role and application of ultrasound and specifically Doppler in the diagnosis of vascular abnormalities in a variety of regions throughout the body.
- Discuss the use of ultrasound in diagnosis of musculoskeletal disorders.
- Evaluate and discuss sonography of the genitourinary system, including diffuse and focal disease.
- Discuss the most effective uses of ultrasound in the performance of interventional procedures.
- Evaluate and discuss sonography of 2nd/3rd trimester fetus, neck and gastrointestinal system.
- Discuss noninterpretive skills including the relationship of radiologists with practitioners of point of care ultrasound.
- Evaluate and diagnose gynecologic and 1st trimester obstetric abnormalities using ultrasound.

Sonographers may use the credits earned from this ACR educational activity to maintain their certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). The ARDMS accepts AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.
