In the first week of July 2025, the Federación Mexicana de Radiología e Imagen hosted the XLIV Semana Internacional de Ultrasonido (International Ultrasound Week) in Mérida, Mexico. The meeting was well-attended and featured speakers from Mexico, Brazil, and the US. The SRU was proud to connect with the organizers, thanks to efforts of Dr. Barr and the Outreach Committee, and sent Dr. Mark Sugi and Dr. Myra Feldman as SRU Ambassadors to the meeting.

Dr. Hernán Gordillo Cordiles and Dr. Gerardo Ornelas warmly welcomed them with a dinner for faculty with live music. The 2 hour SRU presents program focused on SRU consensus statements. Dr Sugi discussed the SRU consensus statement on soft tissue masses and Dr Feldman presented the adnexal cyst statements in conjunction with recent O-RADS classification.

Dr. Richard Barr and Dr. Luciana Chamié, independently invited, added to SRU representation at the meeting. Dr. Luciana Chamié, spoke on the endometriosis consensus statement and performed a live pelvic ultrasound scan demonstration illustrating key views. SRU fellow, Dr. Richard Barr presented the liver elastography consensus statements. Dr. Barr also presented CEUS for renal mass characterization.

Dr. Sugi and Dr. Feldman said, “We are very grateful for the exceptional hospitality shown by our colleagues at the FMRI, who not only gave us an opportunity to share this work but also ensured that we had an opportunity to experience the beauty of the Yucatán and make new connections with radiologists from across the country.”

Dr. Sugi and Dr. Feldman thanked the SRU and the Outreach Committee for the opportunity and strongly support the committee’s efforts to expand the footprint of SRU across national and international meetings.
